Weather often has a significant impact on transportation, whether that be through forest fires, flooding, snow or ice. At the Centre for Precision Forecasts, it is important for us to convey this information in an easy-to-obtain format.

During major weather events across the country, we compile a list of highway closures and display them on an interactive map and a text-based list. We primarily collect road information from police forces (RCMP, Ontario Provincial Police and Sûreté du Québec), DriveBC, Highway Hotline [Saskatchewan], and 511. In specific weather events, such as snow squalls on the Great Lakes, we look at local municipalities for road information.

All of the road closures on this site are updated manually using the information provided by other sources - it may be outdated...use at your own risk.

The time associated with each road closure represents the last time the road closure was updated. It can be assumed that any road on the list is valid until it's removed from the site completely.
